Prop list
Set Design Requirements
-Wooden Planks (Provided)
We needed these to create the boarded up effect on the window.
-Wall Paper (Provided)
We used this to make the inside of the room look like bricks.
-White Paint (Provided)
We used this to whitewash the walls of the second room
General Props
-Fake Blood - £7 (Alex)
We used a lot of this to put on all our dead bodies. -Metal Framed Bed - £70 (Tamara)
This is the bed that we wrecked that the protagonist woke up on. -General Ruinable Clothes - £30 (Tamara)
These were the clothes we bought that we could wreck and cover in blood so that our original cast didn't have to wreck any of their own stuff.
We chose the following props because we decided that they would suit the mood of the dark , oministic impression we were trying to create in our film .They all suited the horro genre being blood and gore .

The Location
We decided to look at places outside of hurtwood and we have come to the conclusion that we are going to use the gate house next to leith hill as it has a small worshop area which is perfect for the kind of setting we need to create .
We also think the studio is going to be used as it is easier to light and we can use a blue screen as well to makie it more realistic.
The studio was a better choice since we could manipulate the light more easily to our advantage . This gave us better control of the whole film in general . We used a brick wall and a borded up window to give the impressionb of ouyr main protagonist being trapped in this room .

The Storyboard
Our group finalized our storyboard earlier this week. We have a 6 page storyboard detailing all the info about our lighting, sound, dramatizations and to a certain extent our set design. We elected to have no dialogue, just the sounds of breaking glass and heavy panting. We also finalized our production company name and design. I rendered our logo which is called REDRUM productions.
Film Treatment
ACT I
·In the first sequence we are introduced to our tragic protagonist, Deacon, he is distressed, he finds himself in a delirious state on a medical bed, inside a dimly lit room, barely alive and heavily drugged. The only light he can see is coming from a nearby furnace. He decides to get up. He stumbles, drunk by fatigue, into a table. This is where he bumps accidently into a light chord hanging on a metal chain. He pulls the chain, and the light hurts his eyes. For the brief second he can see, before the lights flash out, he sees blood and scratches on the walls. He panics and starts to breathe heavily. He stumbles around, and finds his way into the next room. Here the floor is wet. He bumps into another table. On this table he finds an old torch, which is barely working. He shines it briefly on what appears to be a corpse. He approaches the body, and gets close to the body’s face. Suddenly the bodies’ eyes flash open. We realise that there are more than one body in the room, then all the bodies’ in the room try to scream although, they do have their mouths stitched closed. Suddenly he is hit on the back of the head, and he lapses into unconsciousness.
ACT II
·He awakens in the same state as before, on a bed, in a different room. Now he finds himself hooked up to all sorts of aged medical equipment. He attempts to pulls one of the needles out of his arm. Suddenly a deep, evil and ominous voice comes from somewhere in the room: that says “Baaaad idea”. Deacon is increasingly stressed, again he begins to breathe heavily, he is wild eyed and sweating. He tries to scream: “MMmmmmmm!!” but is unable to and discovers that his mouth is stitched together also. Some of the stitches rip open and Deacon exclaims “Who Are You?!” To which he gets no apparent answer. Although he doesn’t want to, he pulls several needles out of his arm. Blood begins to pour out of his veins. And he lapses into unconsciousness once more, and as his eyes begin to close, a looming figure walk awkwardly towards his bedside.
Act III
·The sequence opens with Deacon awakening, he is alive, barely. He is on a chair, but he is not attached to any sort of equipment, although he has a large gash in the side of his head. He is in a windowless, door less room. The only furniture inside is an antique wooden dining chair and an antique lamp. He surveys the room; he sees something written in one corner of the room. He stumbles over there, on his hands and knees. This message read: “Her blood will tell the way” and then some arrows pointing to back to where he was sitting. Behind his chair, he sees the feint outline of a dead body. He sees a wedding ring, and note clutched in its hand. He crawls over to the body. In his stupor, he grabs the note out of the hand. On the note it read “Love is boundless, get out whilst you can”, he then saw that the ring on the body was that of his wife. He screams and begins sobbing violently. He then sees his wives face and closes her eyes with his hands. He shifts his wife’s wait and underneath her there is another note that reads, “Adultery is a sin. The path of redemption begins here” he then grabs the lamp and repeatedly hits his wife’s face. Blood begins to come out of her head. It falls on the floor and lights come up in the whole room, revealing a trap door in the corner. He runs up to it and opens it. He runs frantically through a tunnel and breaks open the door at the end. He falls through. As he looks up he is greeted by the moonlight. He is now at a roadside. On the sign, in blood, it reads, “Take the hard way out” with an arrow pointing downwards. Underneath it lays a shotgun. He stumbles over there, still hysteric. He picks it up and sees that it has one round in it. He cocks it. The screen goes black, and all we hear is a gunshot.

Snynopsis
A Man, aged 40, known as the Face, stalks wrong-doers for fun. He abducts them, mentally toys with them, physically tortures them and delivers his own twisted rendition of justice. He thinks he is a hero. He thinks he is making the world a better place. He thinks wrong. He ends up killing his victims like a spider's web, he enjoys watching them squirm. Until one day he abducts a younger version of himself, who is more intelligent than the face, psychological games ensue, which ends in a struggle for power between the two murderers, culminating in the face being defeated. The young serial killer is changed by these events, he is changed. He turns himself in to the authorities. Ironically making the world a better place.

Pyscopaths

Psychopaths are simply people who do not feel empathy or react to stimuli the way normal people would. They will feel no consequences to their actions whatsoever and morality is an abstract concept to which they can never feel obligated. They will not react to death, incest, violence, sadism, or any shocking behavior the way a normal person would, and are immune to feeling regret or compunction. A psychopath will never feel the need to apologize or seek forgiveness.
Since they are usually hostile, sometimes violent, and often very abrasive, in addition to deceitful and manipulative, these people may seem evil, but under all that, they are simply miserable. The rage may not develop immediately, but usually by the age of four or so, the child is already in such a continual state of frustration that rageful acts of sometimes shocking violence -- including attempted murder -- are possible and should be anticipated.
Research on Schizophrenia

We looked into the idea of a mentally disabled man .
A person diagnosed with schizophrenia may demonstrate auditory hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized and unusual thinking and speech; this may range from loss of train of thought and subject flow, with sentences only loosely connected in meaning, to incoherence, known as word salad, in severe cases. Social isolation commonly occurs for a variety of reasons, as are symptoms of paranoia from delusions and hallucinations, and the negative symptoms of avolition (apathy or lack of motivation). In one uncommon subtype, the person may be largely mute, remain motionless in bizarre postures, or exhibit purposeless agitation.

Creating the Storyboard
Once our groups idea had been finallised it was time to begin the process of formal storyboarding .
A storyboard is designed to provide an accurate technical account of all aspects of sound and vision and to act a s a guide for the crew on shoot and to assist the editor in constructing the time line . Our story board provides specific details of :
Location
The Action
The Shot movement
Lighting
Edit Transmission
Timing#

What happend?
Well we Wrote out all techincal things about what happend in the storyboard by using the list above .We then drew the pictures in of what was happening in the shot .

My Thriller Idea
The idea I had for my Thriller is about a man who finds himself in a pitch black room , feeling ver disoriantated as he is pumped full of drugs. He stumbles around the room , firstly heading toward the window and then finally when he finds the lights , it becomes apparant to him that he was not the only victim in this room . The walls are all atrched , blood stainded and hand prints. He finds the door leading to a long dark and dank corridor . He then goes into thenext room and as he opoens the door it short circuits the rooms lights behind him and he is once again plunged into complete darkness . He walks around the room , when he stumbles upona torch . He flicks it on and he sees 8 dead bodies some dismembered others just facing away from him . He then uses the torch to scan and the survey the whole room and he sees a bodytwitch he then walks closer to the victim and rips off the bnadga like material covering his mouth to reveal that his mouth has been stapeld shut .
My scene would have to utilise both out of school areas and the studio to fully work . I think with careful planning it c ould work well , And as long as we picked the right actors for the job then it would be brilliant

Practical Shoot : Priminanly Task 8th October
Today we were sent to our designated places in order to shoot a short movie placed on a storyboard we were given. We were split into groups of four , and we had to find two willing actors , to act out the lead roles.
The setup we had to work with was a room with a desk , a gun , handcuffs , a chain of keys. We also had a light , to create differnt effects . We didnt use the light we were given instead we used a normal desk lamp as it gave off a more glarey feel . And it felt like it was based late in the eveing .
We chose our girl to be sitting down at the desk , with a sheet of paper and a pen in hand . As she sat there writing a man opens a door and approaches her . As he walks over to the desk he leans down and put his hand forward and lays down a gun on the desk . There is then dialogue and the man stands up and leaves . We started with our wide shots and then we moved onto over the shoulder ones and lastly doing all the closeups . We took each shot on the story board about 3 or 4 times so we will hopefuylly have alot to work with in the editing suite when we piece all the film together next week . We then had time to go and do some extra shots of the extract . We did some cut aways , some more close ups and even some extreme closeups of the peoples faces and the gun its self . We also added a POV shot of the girl by placing the camera in the position she was and having the male actor look directly at the camera lense .
I really enjoyed this task and I think it was alot better than the last one we did last week and defiently more enjoyable , and this has given me a better insight into camera shots , directing , lighting and being a camera man . The 4 most important things for making a movie .

Camera
The Camera is a is an obvious piece of kit needed to shoot a film . Because The battery icomn on the top right of the camera shows how much time the battery has left.
The time code (__-__-__) shows how many jours , minutes and seconds of film you have already recorded and it also shows your FPS , (Frames Per Second)
The number 16:9 shows the Aspect ratio .
DVCAM 48K means Digital Video Camera , 48 K is the Sound quality of which the camera films at .
The Number 50 stands for the shutter speed , a faster shutter speed means a smoother . This great for action movies or anything that needs a fast FPS rate.
A really important setting Is the Sun symbol and the lightbulb . If you are inside you use the lightbulb and likewise if you are outside you use the sun Otherwise everything will be either under exposed or over exposed.

Introduction To The Studio
We did our studio work in the first lesson. We used the studio to pretend taht we were in an interview.Different people had different roles of using the camera , the lighting ,the interviewer and the the actual person being interviewed.
We were given a few questions , and we were given a few minutes to think of some answers , before we were swept away to the studio . The studio space was quite dim and not very big making it a perfect set up . Three lights were used, The lights were used , with one on the face of the person being interviewed the others on the interviewer and behind him/her .The . A BB170 camera was used to film this extract and it was filmed on a wide shot so the audience could see the scene clearly (mise en scene).

Tripods
We learnt about tripods , These are used to keep the cameras in a stable position while we film . It is easy to adjust the angle , tilt and make it easier to do steadier pans . There are many differnt knobs and adjustments .
The main 9 parts are :

1) The Camera Plate
2) Tilt lock
3)Pan & Tilt bar
4)Tilt tension lever
5)Pan Lock
6)Quick release lever
7)Level Adjustment
8)Height locks
9)Spreader

My film Poster

Our task was to produce a horror/thriller film poster . We where only allowed to use our own images and nothing else .
I started with the idea of using a serverd hand , with a chainsaw laying next to it , based on a true film called High tension . However I soon scrapped the idea and tried something more simpliar . I used my freinds arm and covered it in a mix of fake blood , blake yellow and red food dyes . Then I added some vaseline to the arm to make it look like flesh and to look like a huge gash in the arm ...
