Our aim was to research the genre of music . We achieved this with use of relying on digital technology to do so . Firstly we searched for what sort of audience we were going be aiming at by using , our target audience . We explored the music industry and looked deeper into our target audience and found the sort of apparel that this type of audience would be most likely to wear. We also looked at possible locations that coincided with the type of band we were filming with the internet. And lastly we looked at other pop videos on the web to gain inspiration and other potential idea that we could recreate. We used internet to gain an insight into the genre of music and band we were trying to portay in our video .This also included you tube as the main source of ideas for our pop videos and a way of successfully distributing our product.
We filmed on HD digital cameras that recorded onto an SD card . We then used Final cut to edit our pop video
To make sure we would have no problems we needed to have a plan that would deliver on the day and to see is there was anything to ambitious so we could make sure everything would work . We took digital stills of our location , then we were able to use as a digital storyboard so we could plan and see if the shots worked effectively with our chosen song. We also used a camera test to make sure that our mock band worked in front of a camera in the first place. We were also able to make a call sheet containing every detail about the shoot day to make sure everything ran smoothly. We were then able to distribute this via the internet.
On the shoot day we used a JVC 1500 digital HD camera to record all of our footage. Of course being in HD this made it a higher quality to most other cameras. Its other advantage was that it was quick and easy to record footage. We also used light and a smoke machine to create a thin haze on the band so when the lights shone through it it created the atmosphere. The ratio of shots we had were high as we shots about 192 on the day and only kept 63 to edit with . A ratio of 3 to 1.
We then began the process of editing using Final Cut Pro to cut and edit together the music video from the hundereds of clips we had recorded and could piece together how we saw fit to do so .We also used Adobe After FX to add any last special effects to our music video. This is an another example digital technology.
In terms of Distribution we were able to distribute our video through You Tube. A good idea would be to post it to some social network sites like Facebook and Myspace to give the video a wider audience. Digital or new media technology make this possible.

At all levels and stages of production –research and development, planning , the short , part and distributuion , new media technology has made production and the process –quicker, of higher quality , and cheaper.
