Editing

After finishing filming we began editing .We spent a total of about 25 hours editing my music video this was all done over a period of 5 weeks.

I used final cut pro to put together my video . Then I used Adobe after effects and Photoshop CS5 to sort out my last few final adjustments. These are all programs used in professional movie businesses.

We then began to assemble it. We initially wanted to follow the story board but after the filming I decided against . We started afresh and began by laying down a basic idea of arrangement of shots we wanted to use.We started with the band performing , and then made sure the singer was in sync with the song. This produced our rough cut.The rought cut is only a basic idea that you keep building to . And we knew that it was far from completed.After showing it to Luke ,he suggested that there was various changes that needed to be made and of course more content. I began laying down the narrative ontop of the performance . Then I started to add more content of shots of driving through London, the band aboard the tour bus . We wanted the video to flow all the time. We did this by cutting to the beat ,and giving it short , sharp and punchy shots to make it fit with the genre of the music. After we showed him again he told us the story wasn’t as clear as it could be . Finally after fixing the main narrative so it made logical sense we were done and this completed our fine cut.

One edit that seemed to work really well was the performance elemet. Both the singing and performance I think the cast really fitted with the choice of song. We tried to keep our cast dressed as 70’s as we could , yet we wanted to achieve the idea of edginess. The stars seemed to look as if they knew the song and what they were playing .Another example that we belive didn’t work so well was the party scenes. The reason is it didn’t look real , the actors we used over reacted and though tried to appear drunk they acted almost ‘to drunk’.

During the editing we did all we could with the clips and overall I am quite happy with the final outcome. Yet there are a few changes that I would of liked to make , this is mostly based about the drummer. We had a drummer all ready and willing to play but due to family problems he had to pull out. The reason this hinderd us so much was it was the day before .This gave our replacment just under a day to learn the sing perfectly , an inhumane task. He tried his hardest and I think that he worked really well apart from going out of time occasionally or missing a fill it did not effect the video
