What kind of media instituation might distrbute your media product and why ?

Our Thriller has lots of blood and gore . We got inspiration from this from the very popular film Saw , Just like Saws storyline our main protagonist wakes up alone in abandoned room , with no idea how he got there he begins to plan his escape..

I looked at production company Lionsgate . It is a studio with a key presence in the production of films. They made Rambo and the bank job these have all made lots of profit with more than sex and gore a good storyline. A horror doesn’t have such a good effect if it focus’s on the plot and the characterization rather than creating a dramatic effect, appeals to larger audiences. Then I came across horror films made by Lionsgate , including My bloody valetine and the Saw franchise this showed me that they had links to the horror industry and was experienced in this particular genre . I found more specific information about Lionsgate such as a they have a sister company ,20th television . This has control over most of the american televison channels mostly appealing to a male audience . They also own FX in the UK .This is aimed towards men and the programs it airs are ‘True Blood’ a horror that focus on appealing to the mass audience by including copius amount of gore and ‘Dexter’ which is about a policeman who murders the crooks the cops cant catch . This would be a brilliant way to advertise my film on this channel . Since Lionsgate own FX it would be easy to broadcast a trailer for my movie and we know that it will be shown to our target audience . Lionsgate also own their own TV guide network , a big cable network allowing us to make the distribution of our Thriller easier by releasing directly onto cable TV
What I have found from researching is films on Cable TV especially on low budget films has become one of the most profitable aspects. Lionsgate seemed to be the perfect choice for our movie. I then found a website dedicated to horror films which reviews them and has many trailers . This confirmed that it was the right choice of production company for my thriller
